East Coast Voyage Against Inexpensive Energy Will Hurt America’s Most Vulnerable

February 8, 2012

WASHINGTON – Not content with just confronting people in the developing world, Greenpeace has taken its campaign of economic destruction to the United States, using the launch of its lavish new warship, The Rainbow Warrior III, to attack the coal industry, which provides inexpensive and reliable energy to millions of Americans families and businesses.  Greenpeace’s crusade is even at odds with President Barack Obama who recently remarked that clean coal would “help position the United States as a leader in the global clean energy race.”

“Not since British Imperial ships bombarded Fort McHenry in 1814 have the people of Baltimore witnessed a hostile foreign vessel upon their shore. But  Greenpeace has succeeded where even the British Empire fell short, docking their latest battleship in Baltimore’s harbor on the second stop of a five stage crusade to protest against energy generated by coal.  Unfortunately the targets of Greenpeace’s voyage this time are the most underserved on the East Coast who benefit from inexpensive – and clean – energy,” stated Andrew Langer director of the Consumers Alliance.

“Greenpeace’s East Coast crusade against coal is a devious and insidious effort to artificially hike up energy costs for the people who can ill-afford to pay more.  Rather than rolling out the red carpet, the Baltimore City Government must demand Greenpeace leave the harbor with immediate effect.  In addition, the relevant authorities on the next stops of their voyage (Southport, NC, Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and St. Petersburg, FL) must show solidarity society’s most vulnerable and forbid this destructive group from docking and profiting from this anti-economic agenda.  Greenpeace’s warship ironically plans to approach a nuclear plant in South Carolina, which will propel American clean energy security into the 21st century.  The Consumers Alliance will be tracking the warship’s voyage along the way.

DarkPeace, a special project of the Consumers Alliance for Global Prosperity, exposes the destructive and sinister activities of Greenpeace’s seemingly-benevolent campaigns around the world, working to ensure that Greenpeace’s extremism does not go unnoticed, and better yet, is met with resistance.
